Conductors of the Society From Its Founding to the Present Day

Since its establishment to the present, the Society has maintained an exceptional  reputation, symbolizing Serbian musical and cultural heritage. Throughout its existence, the Society has been led by prominent individuals in Serbian music and art, including Davorin Jenko, Kornelije Stanković, Mita Topalović, and Dimitrije Stefanović.

Since its establishment, the Serbian Church Choral Society of Pancevo has been dedicated to developing musical culture and education among Serbs. Shortly after its establishment, the Society became central to the cultural life of Vojvodina. Many choral societies were formed following the model of the Serbian Church Choral Society of Pancevo, including those in Pest in 1839, Timișoara and Arad in 1840, the gymnasium in Novi Sad in 1841, and subsequently in other cities such as Jagodina, Szeged, and Veliki Bečkerek (now Zrenjanin).

Under the leadership of the current conductor of the Serbian Church Choral Society of Pancevo, MA Vera Carina, the choir has performed across the country and abroad, participating in some of the best domestic and international festivals and achieving significant success wherever it appeared.

The Society has had a long and productive life since its founding to the present day. Within the Society, many famous residents of Pančevo found their place, as well as other major players of the Serbian cultural and musical scene.

Throughout time, the Society has gone through many difficult periods, mainly due to wars and unstable political conditions.

However, the Serbian Church Choral Society of Pancevo has never ceased its activities, primarily due to the perseverance and selfless dedication of distinguished residents of Pancevo, as well as other Serbian and global figures, such as Nikola Đurković, Protoiereus Vasa Živković, Kornelije Stanković, Davorin Jenko, Mita Topalović, Jovan Bandur, Mihovil Tomandl, and other great selfless individuals.

Conductors of the Serbian Church Choral Society of Pancevo From 1945 to the Present Day

Branko Cvejić became the conductor of the Society after World War II.

Dimitrije Stefanović, who even until his death in 2020 occasionally conducted the choir, played a significant role in ensuring the choir’s survival during the post-war period, which was one of the most challenging times for the Choral Society.

Since 2000, under the leadership of MA Vera Carina, the Society has recorded a significant number of concerts, guest appearances, festival participations, and added many social and musical recognitions, awards, and charters to its already rich list of achievements.
